State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said the government has allocated Taka 154 crore for establishing an IT Park at Rangpur where 5,000 unemployed youths will get jobs in the IT sector.
“The IT Park will be constructed at Rangpur under the construction package of 12 such IT Parks in the country,” he told the launching ceremony of Tap ‘n Pay Mobile Banking services of Meghna Bank Limited (MBL) at Begum Rokeya auditorium in Mithapukur upazila town in Rangpur in September 10. Palak said a total of three crore clients are currently availing the mobile banking facilities and 10 crore clients will be brought under the same facilities by the year 2020 in the country.
“Ten crore mobile phones and 13 crore SIM cards are being used currently in the country where more than 3.50 crore people are getting internet facilities using mobile phones and the numbers are increasing day by day,” he said.
Besides, steps are being taken to bring the government allowance recipients under mobile banking services for ensuring complete transparency in the whole process.

Lawmaker Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia, Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur Range Khondker Golam Faruk, addressed the function as special guests.
Vice-chairman of Rangpur Unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Rehana Ashequr Rahman, entrepreneur of MBL and young AL leader Rashek Rahman and Mithapukur Upazila Nirbahi officer Mamun-Ur-Rashid also spoke.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MBL Mohammad Nurul Amin and Chairman of Mobility i Tap Pay (Bangladesh) Ltd Jahir Uddin highlighted various aspects and benefits of Tap ‘n Pay Mobile Banking services. ■
