On 10 March 2021, a memorial service was held in the memory of BASIS Director Luna Shamsuddoha conducted by BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir.
Mustafa Jabbar, Minister for Posts and Telecommunications, Salman F. Rahman, Private Sector Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology, Shahid-Ul-Munir, President of Bangladesh Computer Samity And Wahid Sharif, President of Bangladesh Association of Call Centers and Outsourcing, former President of BASIS, Mr. S M Kamal, Mr. Habibullah N Karim, and Mr. SarwarAlam spoke in the memorial service.
BASIS Senior Vice President Farhana A. Rahman, Mushfiqur Rahman, Vice President (Finance), BASIS; Mr. Munir Hasan, Secretary-General, Bangladesh Math Olympiad; Mr. Nazneen Sultana, Vice President, BWIT; Ms. Luna Shamsuddoha’s younger brother, etc. also presented their experience and memories with her at the memorial service.
During the session, the speakers remembered with respect Luna Samsuddoha’s impeccable contribution in the field of information technology.
In particular, her commendable contribution to women’s empowerment and employment in the IT sector and the encouragement of women entrepreneurs is rare. Apart from the IT sector, the commentators also noted that the field she had created with her courage and professionalism in various social activities is not going to be filled easily.
BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir highlighted the life and work of Luna Samsuddoha at the beginning of the program organized by BASIS. Finally, Mr. Nahid Ahmed, Former Secretary-General of BASIS led the prayers for salvation of her departed soul.
