Shahrukh Chowdhury Lina Wafi, the owner of Lina’s Thousand Things received ‘Padma Bank the power of women awards’ which was held at Le Méridien Hotel in the capital Dhaka recently. The initiative was organized by Women Entrepreneurs Bangladesh (WEB), one of the leading organizations of women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the event as a chief guest. Lina Wafi received the award from the ICT State Minister.
‘Padma Bank the Power of Women 2021’ has been awarded to the top 21 entrepreneurs in different fields of Bangladesh by an online-based e-commerce group called ‘Women Entrepreneur Bangladesh’.
With the year 2021 in mind, the best 21 women entrepreneurs of the country were honored. The event was presided over by Rupa Ahmed, Chairman, WEB.
Expressing her gratitude, Shahrukh Chowdhury Lina Wafi, said, “This is a small achievement of my entrepreneurial life. Thanks to WEB for recognizing me. This contribution will assist me to chase my dream and convert it into reality.”
Lina Wafi is the proprietor of Lina’s Thousand Things, a successful women’s clothing brand that began as an online clothing business back in 2012.
“In 2012, I began working in the online clothing industry. By 2016, I had opened my own clothing store, which I had previously operated under a different name. It began as a simple online store. We had a lot of positive feedback from clients, and that’s when my pastime developed into a legitimate business,” she explained.
“We realized in 2018 that our customers wanted us to establish a physical presence. We opened our first location in Police Plaza not long after. “This year, we added two more branches,” she added.
Lina Wafi started the business with a capital of just Tk. 2 lakh. After two years, in 2018, she invested an additional Tk. 10 lakh. At present, Lina’s Thousand Things directly employs more than 15 people, and they have already opened three branches in different parts of Dhaka.
“My ambition is for Lina’s Thousand Things to grow into a brand that allows fashion-conscious ladies to choose from a diverse range of high-quality international apparel.” Lina stated, “I want to focus on increasing our services and ensuring that our online clients are delighted.”
“At the same time, I’d like to open more physical locations and reach out to a larger audience.” I hope to deliver great service to our customers through the combined efforts of well-trained sales and support personnel,” she stated with a smile.
