Using local mobile users’ data global giant companis like Facebook and Google are doing million dollar business every year from Bangladesh, without having any physical presence, said a local digital service entrepreneur on August 10
About four crore people of the country are using this search engine and communication application.
In a workshop on digital service Sazal Kumer Hazra, chief executive officer and co-founder of Dingi Technologies Ltd said, if local entrepreneurs come forward and developed products suitable for the Bangladeshi consumers that will helps to save dollars outflow from the country.
“Of the four crore digital service users half of them are using smartphones and that is a huge market,” said Hazra, in the workshop organised by the Telecom Reporters’ Network, Bangladesh (TRNB).
This digital generation is creating huge volume of data every day and that also have enormous economic value, he added Companies like Facebook and Google are using this data for their marketing business.
“SMS based marketing campaigns become unsuccessful and its success rate came down to less than one per cent now as people are not willing to read any unnecessary text,” Hazra added.
Customers can get more and more flexibility for discounts and offers through digital marketing and campaign what that’s why digital data is playing an important role for this segment. Hazra said globally Bangladesh is the third largest country in terms of Facebook’s application using however they haven’t setup any office in here and that’s why local entities needs to come forward and take a roll.
With two other shareholders Hazra has developed a platform where people can get more service than Google even street view, even finds the exact location of any household of the capital, finds the upcoming bus and its crowed, find any specific train’s exact location with some other especial services.
