Experts from Qatar, Bangladesh explore opportunities in fintech

Officials and experts from Qatar and Bangladesh explored opportunities in the fintech sector in a webinar organised recently. Bangladesh Forum Qatar (BFQ), organized a webinar on ‘An Exploration of the Qatar – Bangladesh Startup and FinTech Opportunities’ in cooperation with the Embassy of Bangladesh in Qatar, Qatar Financial Centre, Qatar Development Bank and Qatar FinTech Hub, reported The Peninsula Qatar.

The event was inaugurated by Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Md Jashim Uddin; CEO of QFC, Yousuf Mohamed Al Jaida; Mashfee Binte Shams – Secretary (West) Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Bangladesh; Hamad Dashin Al Qahtani – General Manager – QBIC, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) co-moderated by Jaafar Ali Al Sarraf, MD & CEO of Gulf Exchange. Mohammed Shafiqul Islam, President, Bangladesh Forum Qatar and Henk Jan Hogendroon, Managing Director, QFC co-moderated the panel discussion. 

Mashfee Binte Shams committed to providing full support for any interested investor from Qatar in Bangladesh.

Md Jashim Uddin renewed commitment of Bangladesh Embassy to support all BFQ initiatives. He emphasised to improve further economic relationship between two brotherly countries Qatar and Bangladesh and encouraged Qatari investment on unique ideas from Bangladesh.

Hamad Dashin Al Qahthani, stated Qatar’s interest to push forward the SME eco system and FinTech sector as the successful entrepreneurs and SME are the backbone of the thriving diversified economy. 

He stated promoting the technologies is in the heart of QDB’s mission and encouraged the startups from Bangladesh to get connected through different QDB’s incubation program.

Munera Fahad Al Dosari, Chief Strategy Officer, noted the demand of talent required in Qatar in which Bangladeshi talent can serve to a great extent. Mohammed Al Emadi, Head of Angel Investment, QDB promised to increase the support to the new startups from Bangladesh who through different incubation programs which are currently in place from QDB.

Shihab Ahmed, Chief Commercial Officer, Robi Axiata Bangladesh highlighted the startup echo system in Bangladesh and explained the IT infrastructure of Bangladesh. He explained the biggest global freelancer community in the world from Bangladesh in terms of cost efficiency.
