Berger launches Auto-Refinishing Booth and Training Facility for auto-painters in Bangladesh

As a pioneering drive, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited (BPBL) and PPG Coatings (M) Sdn.Bhd.SEA have inaugurated the “Berger PPG Auto Refinish Training Center”, which consists of most advanced auto-refinishing booth and world class training facility for automobile painters in Bangladesh. This initiative will help the local car body shops, garages and all concerned persons to improve their technical knowledge. Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director, Berger Paints, inaugurated the Berger PPG Auto Refinish Training Center on October 18, at Tejgaon Sales Office of Berger Paints in Dhaka.

Vehicle industry in Bangladesh is experiencing a massive technological upgradation which has already changed the concept of traditional garages. So the transformation has already started in Bangladesh automotive sector including the body shops to adapt these advanced technologies. The new vehicles that are entering our markets are already coated with high quality paints which require special techniques to get repainted. So the demand for superior vehicle refinishing facilities is growing at a rapid pace. The number of deft applicators is still also very scarce. Consequently, the vehicle owners suffer unwanted paint damage in their cars or other issues like an uneven finishing. Finding an expert, professional and reliable applicator often becomes extremely difficult.

“Berger PPG Auto Refinish Training Center” aims to fill up the vacuum for expert and professional auto refinish paint applicators in Bangladesh and provide thorough guidance on efficient repair process, fast repair, dry sanding process, IR curing, workflow, Paint Manager, RapidMatch, color matching, blending techniques and polishing process. The training program will have four major components, which are – process improvement, technical training, paint manager software, and distributors’ training.

Vehicle paint technicians, garage owners, managers and engineers, body shop production supervisors/foreman, color matchers, and car paint dealers and their sales staff will be eligible and enlisted for training in the Berger PPG Auto Refinish Training Center, which will be arranged phase by phase. Trainee engineers from different engineering institutes will also have the opportunity to gain knowledge on auto refinish painting process and paint technologies. Internationally renowned paint manufacturer PPG and Berger have been working together for the last ten years to distribute global standard coating for auto refinishing purpose. Now, these two leading paint manufacturers will work together to ensure that all relevant personnel involved with this industry have adequate knowledge regarding auto refinish painting process. Franchisees of renowned car brands will also be benefitted from such a training, as it will increase the industry productivity and efficiency, improve manpower skills and quality of service under internationally acknowledged painting processes and standards, professional approach, and automation.

Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, expressed her optimism regarding this unique initiative in Bangladesh, saying, “Car owners in Bangladesh pay a lot of money for the healthy maintenance of their cherished vehicles. If a car is handed over to its buyer with defects in coating, image of the car brand is compromised and the buyer is also dissatisfied. Hence, Berger, being the pioneer of many groundbreaking initiatives, has developed this state-of-the-art training center to facilitate the training of the applicators, thereby ensuring benefits for the end-consumers as well. We are hopeful that the trained applicators and dealers certified by Berger PPG Auto Refinish Training Center would be able to bring a significant improvement in auto refinish industry.”

The event was attended by senior officials from Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, including Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, Senior General Manager, Sales & Marketing, A K M Sadeque Nawaj, General Manager – Marketing, Mokhlechur Rahman, Head Special Coatings; Subrata Paul, Head Vehicle Refinish; and Md. Abdullah-Ass-Salam, Brand Manager, Marketing.

The 2-5 days of full-time training sessions will be mentored by international trainers from PPG Paints, SEA, and BPBL. Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited and PPG Paints will certify trainees upon the successful completion of the training.
