Bangladesh steps to progress in changing trend of IT

BASIS SoftExpo 2020 organized CxO’s Leadership Meet with top local-global CEOs on the second day of the expo

South Asia’s largest ICT expo has just kicked off on February 6 this year aimed at showcasing IT and ITES products and services in Bangladesh with the slogan ‘Transforming Life through Innovation’. This largest exposition held at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).

The second day of this expo has ended with eventful exhibition of products and services, conferences, insightful sessions, and key industry leaders’ Meet-up. “CxO’s Leadership Meet”, a unique and distinguished event among those powered by Brac Bank has drawn Chief Executive Officers of esteemed local and foreign organizations under single roof.

The sole purpose of the meet was to have a deep discussion on building an enriched Bangladesh.

Kunitake Ando, ​​Chairman of the University of Nagano in Japan and the former President and COO of Sony Corporation remarked, “We are on the verge of Fourth Industrial Revolution”. Information Technology is changing the way people live. Those who are better prepared with the changing trend of information technology will have better chance to survive and will subsequently move to the new steps of progress.

Simmi Technologies CEO Sara Crossley said, “We have already begun to prepare the members of our organization for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.” To attain this objective, we have taken an initiative called Research and Develop in Bangladesh.

Also attending at the meeting as the moderator of panel discussion BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir said, “Although we started many things late in Bangladesh, we were able to make a mark quickly because of our reverend Prime Minister’s prudent vision.”

He dubbed the Bengali’s as quick learner and said, “Apart from thinking about technology we are also building skilled manpower.” He also opined that the government has that positive approach to value technology.

Top Ten companies from other verticals at the program were recognized as ‘BASIS Top Ten Digital-Ready Company’ for successfully organizing B-2-B for session with BASIS member companies.

Selim R.F Hussain, Managing Director and CEO, Brac Bank Limited, Mr. Faruque Hassan, Former VP BGMEA & President, Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce And Industries, Syed Nasim Manzur, Managing Director, Apex Footware Ltd, Mr. Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO, Mutual Trust Bank, Dr. Arif Dowla, Managing Director, ACI Limited also graced the seminar with their presence.

Note that Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid with Indutsry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun inaugurated the 16th BASIS SoftExpo.
